oh what fleeting moments I should capture, oh what memories I should still possess

A New Year

I used a picture of Amanda to start this blog, so I thought I would use a picture of her to start off the new year. This time, instead of being in a bathing suit and surrounded by spouts of water, she's in her jacket and surrounded by twinkle lights. What I see is my niece, lit up with the green glow of holiday lights. What I think is that time passes and seasons change, so we must enjoy where we are at the given moment.

Learn from yesterday,

live for today,

hope for tomorrow.

I love her expression. I can’t find the words to describe it, but it is kinda like “wonder, anticipation and a little delicate. You take such good pictures.

    • That was just a lucky shot. She went behind there on her own, and I think the branches were spread out enough to get that great glow. I took a couple of shots before she moved on and this was the good one. I tried to duplicate this around other colored lights, but it never was the same.

I do love that expression. You can’t really put a name on it, unless you just called it looking. I do think of anticipation. Really, it’s the blank expression we get when someone says our name and we look up. It’s that moment of waiting to see what’s going to happen, when our mind is blank, waiting for the next bit of information we have to process.
