Beauty in the weeds

I guess this is just a weed, but there's something pretty about its arching stems. What I see is a plant at the end of its season, dried up and brittle, against a lovely backdrop of sky. What I think is that it's important to look; beauty is all around us, even in the things we might normally glance over without seeing, even in the weeds.

See

These stairs are on the outside of a building in downtown Fredericksburg. What I see is ordinary metal stairs with pretty scroll-work decoration between each step. What I think of is how I go through much of my life with my head down, lost in my thoughts and concerns. What I wonder is how many other interesting and lovely things I may have missed along the way.

what you look at,

but what you see.
